Description: USING AND UNDERSTANDING SOCIAL STORIES™

Created by Carol Gray in 1991, Social Stories are a brief description of a situation or event that helps individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to better understand expectations. Please join us as we learn how to use Social Stories to promote improved learning and positive social skills. The following will be covered:

● How to create positive stories that are effective and individualized.
● When to use Social Stories.
● How to use Social Stories to teach skills and promote positive behavior.
● How schools use Social Stories and how parents can collaborate.

ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTOR:
Lori Martin is an instructional support specialist at Broome-Tioga BOCES, where she has been employed for 15 years. She earned a degree in Special Education from Marywood University and is the current president of Alive with Autism.
